Watch the horses follow Dante’s route each morning

The Dante Arms is one of Middleham’s oldest pubs, originally The Black Swan it changed its name 8 years ago and is now named after the 1945 Derby winner Dante in 1945. Dante was trained in Middleham there are 13 stables in Middleham and Dante was trained in a yard just behind the pub, there is now a Dante Festival held at York in May.

The Dante is situated in the Market Place with five B & B rooms, Room 1 and 2 overlook the market place and you can enjoy watching the horses on their way to the gallops every morning. Rooms 3,4 & 5 are at the rear of the pub.

The Dante has the only Beer Garden in Middleham it is a wonderful sun trap catching the sun from morning until mid afternoon. The Castle can be accessed from the top of the garden.
